All of our courses and workshops are approved by The Open College West Midlands or hold CPD accreditation and can be accessed at Our Place Community Hub or delivered at your own venue.

Our Place offer a range of training for professionals that work to support others with social, emotional and mental health wellbeing.

Our courses are also suitable for those within a managerial role that wish to get the best out of their staff team by increasing their understanding and ability to support and manage staff social, emotional and mental health wellbeing.

 Mentoring in Practice Level 3 Award

Our Palce Training: Mentoring in Practice Level 3 Award

Mentoring in Practice is a recognised qualification endorsed by Open College West Midlands. Delivered over 3 taught days (Across 12 weeks) learners will receive 24 guided learning hours and are required to undertake additional independent learning tasks which we expect will require 6 hours of further study.

The course is designed to equip individuals to understand the role of a mentor, deliver safe mentoring practice and have the ability to deliver practical mentoring sessions tailored to the needs of individual mentees.

The course cost is £450 per learner and bookable by email to training@ourplacecommunityhub.org

Friday 14th September / 28th September / 12th October, 9:30am-3:30pm at Our Place Community Hub, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1RN (Limited Availability)

Wednesday 17th October 2018 / 14th & 28th  November  9:30am-3:30pm at  Carrs Lane Conference Centre, The Church at Carrs Lane, Birmingham, B4 7SX

Please note: Learners must attend all taught days. This course is level 3 standard and requires learners to complete and submit a number of relevant assignments.

Terms and Conditions: A place on this course is only confirmed once payment has been received. Payment must be received before attending day 1 of the course. No refunds are allowed, places can be postponed to a later course if necessary. In the event of illness learners will be invited to catch up missed days on a later course, this will postpone the expected completion date.

Our training is suitable for individuals and teams looking to enhance their personal and professional development. We offer a range of courses in key areas aligned to our service delivery. This means that we are able to offer high quality training which we know can be translated into day to day practice.

Our trainers are all highly experienced in the field in which they deliver and are able to draw on their own practice to enhance the learning experience.

Anger or Calm? – 17th September 1pm-3pm at Our Place Community Hub.

Suitable for personal development and for those supporting others in social and emotional well being, this course will enable attendees to learn about

  • Triggers
  • Escape routes
  • Key skills for calm control.

Attendees will also learn how to use their new learning to then positively influence others too!

Safeguarding Children –  25th September 10am-12.30pm at Our Place Community Hub

This course will give professionals an introduction/refresher in Child Protection and Safeguarding

Learners will be able to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns when working with children and young people, be equipped with the knowledge of the signs and symptoms of various forms of child abuse and will leave the session confident that they can act effectively and appropriately in response to the safeguarding and protection of children and young people.

Emotional Intel

This fantastic course is suitable for those seeking professional development to better understand and manage their own emotions but is also suitable for professionals delivering a range of emotional support services including mentoring, coaching, counselling or work place supervision.

The session offers knowledge and skills around the internal/external elements of Emotional Intelligence; to improve social functioning, understanding and managing emotions, and the valuing of ourselves and others.

A large amount of energy goes into hiding our emotions and yet they provide the real and authentic essence of who we are and our potential.

From this course you will gain the initial steps in the journey of how to use our emotions so that they don’t abuse us!

Female Genital Mutilation Awareness – 15th January 10am-12noon at Our Place Community Hub

This course provides participants with a history and understanding of the conceSTOP FGMpt Female Genital Mutilation. In this course learners will consider the definition of FGM; the law; statistics and the prevalence along with how professionals can safeguard against the practice.

Behaviour – 7th February 2018 –  10am-12 noon Venue TBC

This course considers ‘behaviour’ and its impact. The Vicious Circle often stops usBehaviour in our tracks and prevents us from being the best version of ourselves – Find out how it works  and how to start making changes to become unstuck.

The training looks at how our behaviour can be both the root and cure of our problems! Understanding, through the lens of a vicious circle, just how key, small changes in what we are doing, can impact our entire being

Assertiveness – 11th March 10-12 noon at Our Place Community Hub

This course will look at how to make choices, and communicate as your authentic self – recognising how to negotiate a ‘win-win’ outcome for your conversation whilst being the best version of yourself in the process.

Using your values to help choose your battles & fighting them in the  right way, at the right time, and with the right attitude!

Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness (CSE) – 9th April 10am-12.30pm

This is an established and well attended cougirl on bridgerse which offers an introduction to Child Sexual Exploitation.

Attendees will learn how to recognise the reality of this hidden crime which can affect anyone; anywhere. Understand how perpetrators engage children and young people, giving them the power to recognise the early signs of CSE and wherever possible prevent it from happening at all.

Past learners have said that after attending this course they feel more able to contribute to the reduction of child sexual exploitation in their community.

Managing Stress – 16th May 1pm-3pm – Venue TBC

This course offers an informal and practical workshop looking at the role and function of stress, analysed through our own experience but also considering its impact on those we work with too . You will be given the opportunity to experiment with a range of different relaxation techniques and strategies to encourage psychological flexibility.

Transactional Analysis – Who am I? – 17th June 10am-12 noon
