Safeguarding Awareness

Learners will be able to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns when working with children and young people, be equipped with the knowledge of the signs and symptoms of various forms of child abuse and will leave the session confident that they can act effectively and appropriately in response to the safeguarding and protection of children and young people.

Autism Awareness –  Wednesday 18th September, 10am-12noon at Our Place Community Hub, Farthing Lane, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1RN

Learners will have the opportunity to consider how the world looks from an Autistic perspective and will be given tools and ideas to enable them to support individuals on the Autistic Spectrum.

The course wFaith & Belief Abuse Copyright okill enable individuals to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns specific to faith and belief when working with children and young people.

Professionals will be equipped with the knowledge of the signs and symptoms of various forms of child abuse linked to faith and belief including physical, sexual, emotional, neglect, forced marriage, and Female Genital Mutilation.

This course is subsidised by Childrens Quarter. Places are £30 for members of Children’s Quarter and £50 for non-members.  Book via email to development@childrensquarter.org

This cBehaviourourse considers ‘behaviour’ and its impact and how behaviour can be both the root and cure of problems!

The Vicious Circle often stops individuals in their tracks and prevents them from being the best version of their-selves. During this session you will learn how to identify the ‘Vicious Circle’, find out how it works  and how to start making positive changes.

An Introduction to Female Genital Mutilation –  Tuesday 15th October, 10am-12.30pm at Our Place Community Hub, Farthing Lane, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1RN

Learners will consider the definition of FGM, the law, statistics and the prevalence along with how professionals can safeguard against the practice by identifying early warning signs and knowing how to progress concerns.

Understanding Anger –   Thursday 7th November 1pm-3pm at Our Place Community Hub, Farthing Lane, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1RN

Anger or calmAnger is one of the most discussed emotions and a common reason for referrals to support services.

This course looks at ‘Anger’ as a concept and provides learners with an understanding of the triggers, escape routes and the key skills required for calm control. The learning from this session is designed to equip professionals to deliver support on ‘Anger’ to clients, mentees and staff members.

Introduction to Child Sexual Exploitation – 5th December 10am-1pm at Our Place Community Hub, Farthing Lane, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1RN

This is an established and well attended course which offers an introduction to Child Sexual Exploitation.

Attendees will learn how to recognise the reality of this hidden crime which can affect anyone; anywhere. Understand how perpetrators engage children and young people, giving them the power to recognise the early signs of CSE and wherever possible prevent it from happening at all.

Past learners have said that after attending this course they feel more able to contribute to the reduction of child sexual exploitation in their community.

Emotional Intelligence –  Monday 3rd February 1pm-3pm at Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church, Trinity Hill, B72 1TA

EIThis course offers an introduction to Emotional Intelligence.

A large amount of energy goes into hiding emotions and yet they provide the real and authentic essence of who we are and our potential.

This training gives professionals the basic knowledge needed to explore ‘emotions’ with the individuals they support so that they can encourage them to listen to their emotions and gain control of them..

Learners will be able to support others to transform their problems into purpose filled choices, putting some ‘why’,  into their ’try’, to release motivation and tackle difficult situations.

Stress 1This course offers an informal and practical workshop looking at the role and function of stress, analysed through our own experience but also considering its impact on those we work with too . Learners will be given the opportunity to experiment with a range of different relaxation techniques and strategies to encourage psychological flexibility.

Managing thoughtsWith over 2000 thoughts running through your mind every hour managing those negative or conflicting thoughts can be challenging!

Learners explore the nature and composition of our thoughts, looking at how they serve or enslave us. The course considers faulty thinking styles that catch us all out and provides resources for professionals to use with their own clients/mentees and staff to encourage individuals to take control of their thoughts and manage them effectively.

Transactional Analysis – Who am I? – Thursday 11th June 10am-12 noon at Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church, Trinity Hill, B72 1TA
