Five Years of Funding Secured to Sustain Our Place Support Advice Service

We are delighted to share some really positive news for our community.

Here at Our Place Support we have been successful in securing five years of funding from The National Lottery Community Fund’s Reaching Communities programme, ensuring the long-term stability of our Advice Service and the continuation of vital support for local residents across North Birmingham.

This funding secures our advice service which has been supporting local people for many years and allows us to continue delivering trusted, person-centred advice and support across Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, Kingstanding and Castle Vale.

 

A trusted service, rooted in the community

For the past nine years, our Advice Service has been there for people navigating some of life’s toughest challenges, including financial hardship, housing insecurity and the rising cost of living.

During this time, we have built strong relationships within our communities and developed a service that people trust. This National Lottery Reaching Communities funding ensures the future of our work; enabling us to support people when they need it most with free guidance and practical support on:

• Income maximisation
• Accessing the right benefits and grants
• Housing advice and homelessness prevention
• Cost-of-living support

While our service is open to anyone living in North Birmingham, we prioritise supporting individuals who may struggle to access help elsewhere. This includes people experiencing poverty, disability, poor physical or mental health, digital exclusion, social isolation or complex life circumstances.

We know that for many people, accessing support can feel overwhelming, particularly when they are already under pressure. That’s why we work flexibly, meet people where they are, and focus on practical solutions that support independence and dignity.

 

A whole-person approach

At Our Place Support, we recognise that financial insecurity, housing issues, mental health and social isolation are often deeply connected.

Alongside practical advice, our service offers inclusive social opportunities, such as coffee mornings, and with this new funding an expanded programme of social activities and events. These opportunities help people rebuild confidence, reduce loneliness and develop supportive connections within our community.

 

Looking ahead: building long-term sustainability

Alongside this funding, we are committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of all services at Our Place Support and so over the coming months we will increase investment in our accredited training programmes, delivering mentoring and safeguarding training to professionals nationally. Income generated through this work directly supports the continuation of our core services and operation of our community hub, meaning that professionals accessing our training are also investing in vital community support.
